As one of our first posts, we wanted to share some helpful context about what a residential family centre is and the responsibilities involved in running one.
A residential family centre is a place where:
👶 Parents and children live together in a supported environment
🔍 Parenting capacity is monitored or assessed
💬 Parents receive guidance, advice or counselling to help them meet their child’s needs and keep them safe
This includes anyone who is caring for a child, and can also include parents under 18.
At Norden Hills, this aligns with our mission:
“To provide every parent the opportunity to live together with their child/ren in a safe and compassionate environment where guidance and support is provided and robust, fair and evidence-based assessments of parenting skills are conducted by a team of dedicated professionals with a view to successful reintegration in the community.”
